Synopsis

LAPD Detective Sean Hennessey has one person he’s repeatedly tried to arrest and bring to justice: his nemesis, Mitchell Yates.

Yates has been in and out of trouble for years, always skating around the edges of LA’s underbelly; however, Sean can never pin anything on him.

But one night all of that changes.

Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, instead of arresting Yates, Sean is rescued by him and taken to Yates’ home—a satellite high above Earth. There, Sean discovers a world he thought possible only in Science Fiction.

Everything he believed he knew about Yates is turned upside down, and Sean must make a decision: to remain with the LAPD or join Yates and work toward intergalactic peace.

Excerpt

Sean stood with a groan, confusion warring with disbelief that they could possibly be safe just because bullets had stopped flying in their direction. What the hell happened?
“Come on. Let’s get that taken care of.” Yates led him down the hall into another room, apparently a medical facility of some kind, with an examination table, and cabinets against one wall.
“What’s going on here, Yates? Where are we and how did we get here?”
A tall, slender, gray-haired man walked through the doorway. “Yana, I was told you were back and in need of Medical,” he said as he approached.
“I’m back, but it’s not me in need of care; it’s Sean Hennessey.” He nodded to Sean. “This is Noel. He’s a healer… a doctor.”
Noel looked toward Sean. “Yes, I see. Over here, please.” He motioned to the examining table and helped Hennessey remove his jacket.
Sean grimaced in pain as he undid his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, exposing the wound. The bullet had. Not a severe injury, but a bloody oneNoel took some gauze squares from a container in the cupboard and held them to the wounapplying pressure for some time. Sean felt warmth in the area, and the raw pain eased. He was filled with a feeling of peace and serenity. When Noel removed the gauze, the wound had closed and only a reddish pucker remained.
Stunned, Sean wondered aloud, “I don’t know how you did that, but thank you.” He slipped his shirt and jacket back on.
“You’re most welcome, Mr. Hennessey. The shoulder will be a little sore for a day or two, but you should be fine.” With a smile, and a brief hug for Yates, Noel left the room.

Excerpt

Mists closed around him and hid the moon in a veil of cold grey. He came to a stumbling halt, fear pounding through him in time to the wild beat of his heart. As he caught his breath, he heard the unmistakable sound of flowing water, perhaps a creek winding through the heather. Callum gnawed his lips. Danger lurked on the water’s edge for an unwary man.
On the other hand, men built homes along the waterways and learned to guard against the faery folk. He sighed. Either choice spelled risk, but hunger and loneliness won out and sent him in search of the water’s path through the thick heath.
The gray fog made it hard to see his way and he cursed when he stepped into the creek before he knew he’d come to it. An icy chill raced up his leg and he glanced around, feeling as if he’d been startled from a dream. The mists were gone, leaving the fields bright with moonlight. Faint music caught his ears and he spied several globes of light in the distance. Will-o’-the-wisp? He didn’t know, but the haunting melody tugged at his heart and he walked toward it, careful of his footing.

Callum's Fate 3D Cover
It was caution that saved him before he made the fatal mistake of stepping into the faery ring that suddenly appeared at his feet. He might have become lost in their dark realm. He stared down, delighted with the brightly dressed wee folk fluttering and dancing in the circle of mushrooms. Laughter floated up to him and he smiled reflexively. Several of the pretty creatures spied him and flittered up to tug at his clothing with tiny hands. These were male, scantily dressed, and one saucy lad winked a bright eye and flew up to nibble at his lips.
Callum laughed and shooed them gently off. “I’m not fool enough to join you,” he told the three hovering near his face.

Book Trailer

Excerpt

THE HARDEST THING about working on Ariel was the absence of day and night. That deep in the ocean the hours passed in meaningless numbers as the ship floated in the endless depths of Titan, a rich oceanic moon orbiting Jupiter. Sean’s body clock had never adjusted. Three seasons underwater and he still found himself falling asleep during his shift in the infirmary or staring up at his bedroom ceiling, wide awake.
His head dropped sharply, the suddenness of it waking him up. He looked about, checking that no one had been in and caught him napping. Any of the five other crew members onboard were capable of tormenting him when his guard was down. During his first season the pranks were unbearable, but Sean had been a different man back then. He didn’t understand how to fit in and be part the crew. He took their games to heart for a long time.

Deep Cover

It was better now. He was better. They still played their pranks, and sometimes he still got annoyed, but he appreciated them. The crew were family, and he cared for them all deeply. He never thought a man from his walk of life, with all his wealth and all his privilege, would happily settle on a rusty old mining ship with a group of feral deep-sea laborers. He expected the rest of the crew thought the same.
Sean stretched and yawned. His body had changed dramatically since he’d taken his first dive, too. You had to be strong and maintain good physical health working this deep. His body was toned and lithe and bigger than it had been when he first showed up on Titan looking for a job.
“You’re a bit young and scrawny to be a doctor, aren’t you?” the captain had said to him that day in the docking station, seeing a man barely scraping twenty-three and not fit for more than standing around and looking pretty.
Sean had given him some pompous reply that still made him cringe when he thought back to it. Sometimes he suspected the captain only took him on to try to break him. Captain Riley could be a sadistic bastard when he wanted to be.

Excerpt

Unconsciously, Erron crossed his arms over his chest, but not for warmth. Danverse looked increasingly unhappy as he heard more about Erron’s state of affairs. The more he said the worse the expression became and Erron was convinced the job opportunity was fading faster and faster.
“So what made you apply for our cook’s position?”
“Needed a job and came across the Subspace Link ad. I did a little research on the SantaClaus. It looked like a good fit for me and when I found out Gamin was part of the crew, I had to take a shot."
“You know our head chef?”
“Yeah. He was my mom’s best friend when I was a kid. I never knew my dad and he was the next thing to a father figure back then. They had some major falling out back when I was nineteen and he stopped coming around. Mom wouldn’t say what. Then the Civil War broke out and in all the craziness, we lost touch. I didn’t even know he was alive until now. I figured I needed a fresh start, and touching base with him would be something I should have done ages ago.”
Danverse paused for an uncomfortably long moment as his stare intensified. Erron began to fidget in his seat as he watched his employment hunt begin again.
“Assuming I take you on, the job is every day, three meals a day. You’ll have down time, but not days off except when we’re in port. Gamin would be your direct superior, but there is still a chain of command. Living onboard isn’t a pleasure cruise, but it’s not a bad life. The crew is like a small town. We’re all in each other’s business, and we always look out for each other. I don’t have a tolerance for people who can’t play well with others.”
Erron’s eyes began to widen. Why was he telling him this? Surely the captain wasn’t saying yes?
“It sounds perfect. I’m not afraid of hard work and Gamin’s the reason I became a cook in the first place. Cooking makes me happy. I’m still waiting for you to tell me the down side.”
Danverse’s frown shifted into a sly grin. “Right now, I don’t think I’m seeing one.”
“Are you saying I can have the job?” Erron’s voice peaked as he fought to control the excitement rising in his chest. There was no doubt he seriously wanted the job, but he didn’t want it to be so horrifically obvious.
“Can you be at Landing Bay Gamma Seven One tomorrow by 09:00 hours? We’ll be in port for about a week, but I can have my security chief get you settled in before we ship out.”
The smile on Erron’s face made his cheeks ache, it was so strong. He was so elated, if he wasn’t careful he was going to be on the verge of tears. “You’re Goddamn right I can be there.”
Danverse lifted his glass in salute. “Well then, Mr. Murfin. Welcome to the crew.”
Start with Book  One of Ship Logs of the Santa Claus!

About the Author

Like many gay men, when Mann Ramblings grew up, there weren’t any heroes he could relate to. The world held him back while he tried futilely to hide the real person inside. So much has changed since those hollow days. He finally found his voice, the voice that says it’s all right to revel in the so-called inappropriate joys, laughs, and loves that storm inside a man’s head. It took a long time to find that courage and now that it’s here, he plans to use it well.

While spending years more focused on visual arts, he never let go of his innate passion for storytelling—he wanted to write and draw comic books when he grew up. Once he discovered M/M fiction, a whole new world opened with new possibilities. Why couldn’t you have fantastic and dynamic tales with an M/M cast? He started reading the online tales of authors like, Night Tempest, Rob Colton, and Alicia Nordwell, which only fueled within him the need to create. Eventually he found GayAuthors.org, and with a little coercive nudge from Night Tempest, started sharing his tales with an unexpected level of positive response. That experience and support gave him the courage to cross his fingers and aim for the world of M/M publishing.

Born and raised in Michigan, Mann Ramblings continues to type away, wishing it was practical to use a noisy, old fashioned keyboard that clacks with each strike, if only to annoy his loving partner and spoiled miniature dachshund.

REVIEW 4 STARS:

Danny Wong is a shy PhD student who is so far in the closet he's almost back out the other side. He's had a crush on the rugged handome cop who patrols the university campus, but feels too shy to do anything about it. Instead, he just wishes and fantasises about what life with Dave Pearce might be like.

His family doesn't know he's gay and Danny feels like he is letting them down by not being normal, but not being straight and marrying a woman to have children with.

But one night after almost being attacked by a mugger with a knife, Dave is there to rescue him and that night stirs the beginnings of their relationship.

Dave is a troubled man and feels he doesn't deserve love. Abused as children, he and his best friend John became lovers as teenagers, but John didn't recover from what he suffered and after seventeen years together he committed sucide.

Dave is afraid that he if lets anyone get too close, he will only hurt them further and he tries his best to not get involved with Danny. Hard to do when he has fallen in love with him and doesn't know how he will face life without him. Crisis after crisis seems to follow, but still Danny hangs in there and tries to get Dave to see that he too is a man deserving of love, no matter what happened in the past. But can he ever get Dave to believe it?

This was a wonderful, romantic story with a side serving of angst, but it doesn't become overpowering. There is hope in the story too and I adored how Dave got Danny to come out of his shell more. I loved both Danny and Dave, although at times I did get confused as to who was who -the names sounded so similar.

Well-written with sensual love scenes, but some made be blink a bit. The characters discuss safe sex and then decide NOT to use it. It would have been better for it not to be mentioned at all and then I could pretend that this was a universe where STDs didn't exist. As it was, mentioning it and then not using protection seemed odd to me. There was also one scene were the only lubrication was saliva. Ouch! I was glad to see later scenes had some more lube.

But all in all I very much enjoyed the story and I would certainly read more by this author in the future.

Suddenly, Francis felt someone sit down beside him. He heard a very sexy-husky voice state matter-of-factly, “So, dude, we’d all like to know what your story is, especially Heather over there. You might as well spill.”

Francis lifted his head to see two very athletic-looking blondes staring back at him. They both had annoyed looks on their faces. The young woman, whom Francis supposed was Heather, nodded and smiled at him. The extremely good-looking young man grinned and said, “Hey, kid, I’m Andrew. Your nosy neighbor is Sebastian. Don’t mind him. He’s just a busy-body.”

Francis frowned. Why did he always have to go through this? He made sure his speaking voice was in his lower register before replying, “I’m eighteen. I’m as much of a kid as you are—my name is Francis.”
He turned to Sebastian, was about to say something snarky, but was taken aback by how handsome Sebastian was. Then, Sebastian gave a cocky, self-absorbed smile and it changed everything. Francis knew that kind of smile—he knew the kind of personality that produced that kind of smile—and he was afraid of it.

LoveCubed_3DRender
Just before Francis could do anything that anyone could construe as being antisocial, the group was interrupted by rustling near the door. The floor’s leader, a fourth-year geology student named Harold, garnered people’s attention and started his welcoming speech, which consisted mostly of enumerating the house and floor rules—respect of property and respect of other floor-mates being chief among them. Oh, and cleaning up after oneself was rather enthusiastically emphasized.

The next announcement came as a surprise to everyone, especially to Francis. “Okay, now some of you have already come to me complaining about the fact a first-year on this floor was appointed to a single room. I am here to tell you that it’s true. The university has granted first-year Francis Hollingsworth the right to a single room because of special circumstances. Those special circumstances will not be discussed. I can say that it isn’t because of financial privilege. I am asking all of you to let Francis have his privacy. No one is to hound him for an answer, and yes, Sebastian, I mean you. Let the kid, I mean guy—let the guy be. If he wants to talk about it, he will let you know.”

Francis was mortified. No one had warned him, and he certainly didn’t expect to be singled out like that. He glanced at Heather and Andrew. They seemed intrigued but genuinely concerned and interested about him. Sebastian looked like a cat that had just found a mouse. Francis knew Sebastian was bound to be trouble for him in more ways than one. He wasn’t exactly looking forward to it. He hoped he wouldn’t have to endure him for too long. With his luck, Francis figured he and Sebastian would probably be teamed up in a get-to-know-you exercise; Francis shivered at the thought.

About the author

Eddie LeFey started reading m/m romance fanfiction a few years ago. At one point, during a crucial point in the soap opera storyline of his favorite gay couple, the story went on hiatus. He needed a fix and decided to write his own version of what he wished would happen. Friends wanted to read it, so he plucked up his courage. Pressing the submission button was nerve-wracking, but he did it. People liked it. He wrote a few more.

Up until that point Eddy had tried his hand at writing many times. The delete button was his friend, as was starting over, and over, and over, but he could no longer do that if he wanted people to read his works.
A few of his writing friends decided to create original stories, and feeling brave, Eddy did the same. The stories were shared among a select few. They encouraged him to submit one of them. Low and behold, it is now being published.

Eddy lives in Canada with his husband Ken and his cat Oscar Wild. He is busy writing many more stories.

Powerful modern warlock Quinn Fairmont found ecstasy with the silver-eyed and not-quite-human Cade Mairston, but to know true happiness the pair must best both the shadow of a long-ago lover and an ancient enemy who seeks to destroy love, light and all they hold dear.

A BLINDING LIGHT

It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston.

Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks. Could it be one of his own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men…and whether it seeks to love or destroy.

Excerpt:

WWhen he got home, he smiled as he saw the blind at the front window twitch. The front door opened and a lean, tall frame lounged lazily against the door frame watching Quinn walk up the path. Cade laughed as Quinn bowed low.

“Home safe, my Queen. I promised, didn’t I?”

Cade smiled at him, eyes amused, then drew closer, his eyes narrowed in anger. “What did that she-devil do to your face? Did she scratch you?”

Quinn kissed Cade, his lover’s concern and love for him like a welcome-home present sitting on the hearth. “Valensia got a little irate at something I said but she calmed down and I got out in one piece, virgo intacta.” He grinned wickedly. “I didn’t have to hump anyone but I got the book!” He pulled it out of his jacket pocket with a triumphant flourish.

Cade gawped at him. “She just gave it to you? What did you have to promise her to get it?” He frowned. “No, don’t tell me. I’ll probably get all upset and then we’ll argue and everything will just go to pot.”

Quinn shrugged, knowing his silence would drive Cade crazy, and went into the house with his boyfriend hot on his heels. He took off his jacket, and as much as he wanted to go upstairs and study the book, he knew he still had a little bit of conversation with Cade to complete. Best get it over with.

“I didn’t have to promise anything. It appears Valensia has mellowed somewhat with me since our last encounter. Prickly on the outside but surprisingly a little more relaxed beneath. So apart from a scratched face, now I have the book and I’m praying all the hopes we’re pinning on it to find the man we’re looking for won’t let us down.” He looked longingly across at the stairs down to the basement. “So I thought I’d go to the library and see what I can find out.”

Cade shook his head in resignation. “You’ll be impossible to talk to until you get this out of your system. Fine, off you go. Dinner will be a while.” He glanced at him slyly. “I have a few things of my own I need to sort out anyway. I had another text from Cooper. That man is becoming quite a stalker.”

Quinn frowned. “Cooper? Who’s Cooper?”

Cade sighed. “I’ve told you about him. He’s this rather forward young man at work who keeps me asking me out. Unfortunately he has my mobile number and insists on texting me rather sweet anecdotes now and then.”

Quinn shook his head darkly. “Does he know you have me at home? Is he becoming a bit too much?”

Cade laughed. “Yes, he’s well aware of you. And I can manage Cooper, I promise. It’s rather flattering having a young man pursuing me so ardently.”

Quinn was a little put out at Cade’s obvious enjoyment of having another suitor. “Exactly how old are we talking about? And I can’t have Valensia, but you can have Cooper?”

Cade scowled at his laconic retort and Quinn smiled at him.

“Cooper didn’t have me imprisoned in a bedroom so he could screw me every time he felt like it. You know it’s not the same. And Cooper is twenty-eight.” Cade smirked.

Guest Post: Pricing
by Susan MacNicol

I have a little bit of a personal bug bear when it comes to buying books on Amazon and other sites. I'm one of those people who really like to get into a book, and into a story hence why I prefer longer novels.

I suppose this is one of the reasons I write such long stories myself- Stripped Bare was 104000 + words, 290 pages (Kindle) Saving Alexander is just under 90 k words, and my other books are much the same, somewhere between these two numbers. I believe that if I'm writing a story, I want readers to get as much out of it as I can give.

Of course there's a place for the novellas, for the short stories, and the 'in between' excerpts to keep reader interest between books that run in a series. I enjoy these as much as the next man or woman and lap them up so I can follow the character's lives between series.

But what I don't appreciate is having to pay a price that I don't believe is commensurate with what is on offer. I've seen books of 20 pages being sold at $4.00, books at 70-80 pages being sold at the same price and then stories of 100 pages or similar going for $6 or more. Now colour me daft, but I tend to want to get value for money when I buy my books to read. So Stripped Bare, for example, priced at $5.45 for 290 pages, to me is not bad value.

But it's got to the stage where I can't tell the length of the book by the price in some cases. It could be that the more popular authors can price their shorter books up simply because they are popular.  Everyone has a pricing strategy and if they can get away with it, well done to them. I just become frustrated when I read a blurb I really like, go and take a look at the book and find out its 100 pages for > $5.

And talking about the short stories, there are a lot of them in the M/M genre, short and sweet tales that are a little like my own publisher, Boroughs Lunchbox Romances , which at around 50 pages and just over a dollar, offer a read that's 'easily consumable in a lunchtime'. You honestly don't mind paying this for a quick read. But I draw the line at paying more unless I'm really dying to read it.

I know that it's up to the reader to decide just how much they would pay to read something by one of their favourite authors. I just wish there was a little more consistency in the pricing. And therein I end my little diatribe about what I deem the unfair pricing of good books on the shelves and I leave it to you to form your own opinion and even tell me if you disagree. I have wide shoulders- I can take it :)

Punishing himself for a horrific past that is not his fault, bestselling author Alexander Montgomery seeks redemption and love—and perhaps he will find it.

But how can anyone respect what he truly is? His therapy involves regular sessions at Study in Scarlet, an exclusive S&M club.

Then comes Sage. Tall, with black hair and blue eyes, an up-and-coming actor with impossible charm and boy-next-door good looks, he’s the perfect choice to play the leading man in a TV adaptation of Alex’s last best-seller. Even more, he is a man you introduce to your family. Which Alex would do—if he weren’t taken by another man who offers the punishments Alex prays will wipe away the past and make him the person he wants to be. Yet, perhaps there is another path to redemption. If only the solution would reach out and touch him.

Sage pulled Alex to him desperately, feeling the steady beat of his heart against his chest. “Jesus, Alex, babe. You might have been fucked up but you were my fuck-up.” He felt the movement of Alex’s mouth against his chest, as if he was smiling. “You could have told me all this instead of writing a stupid word on a piece of paper and breaking my bloody heart.”

“Babe, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done this right now, I’m a selfish son of a bitch.” He drew Alex’s trembling lips to his and kissed him deeply, tasting the salt on his skin. “You aren’t going to lose me. I’m here for you, that was my promise.” He huffed in frustration. “It’s just I really care for you and I want you for myself. Every last, sexy, beautiful bit of you.” Sage to Alex

Sage moved closer to him, pinning Alex between the sink and his body. Alex stared at him defiantly and Sage reached out, cupping his face in his hands, his thumbs caressing the strong curve of Alex’s jaw. He saw something flicker in Alex’s eyes, a fierce hope that disappeared almost as it arrived.
“You don’t have to keep going with this, Sage. I don’t expect you to.” Alex swallowed, his face filled with pain. “You can leave me,” he whispered and Sage’s heart broke at the defeated tone in Alex’s voice.

Alex had found the weapon. He picked it up in and stood to face Sarah
.
“Stop it.” His voice was quiet. “Stop now or I’ll bloody shoot you, you bitch. And nobody fucking owns me. Not anymore.” He stood, steady hands pointing the gun he’d retrieved squarely at Sarah. “Stay back, Sage.”

Finally Sage released Alex and grinned wickedly. “Could you really give that up?” he said softly in his ear as he nuzzled his neck.

Alex shook his head as he leaned into him, enjoying his scent and the warmth of his body. “I could never give you up. I love you far too much to do that.”

Sage let him go and Alex saw him take two small pieces of paper from his pocket. He watched as Sage laid them in an ashtray on the kitchen tab and bought out a box of matches from the kitchen drawer.

“What the hell are you doing?” Alex asked, puzzled. Sage kept quiet, picking up the two pieces of paper to show him what was written on them.

Chrysippus. Tallulah.

Eric chuckled quietly. “Sometimes I like to exercise my prerogative and change my mind. You’ve been through enough tonight. Time to end it, don’t you think?”

The distinct desire in his voice was evident and Alex thought Eric had chosen to end it for his own pleasure, to finish off the evening for him in the way Eric liked most. Inside Alex.

He leaned in toward Alex’s face, his mouth just short of brushing his lips. One of Alex’s cardinal rules was no kissing. Eric wasn’t allowed to take Alex’s mouth with his and it frustrated him. Sometimes he really wanted to kiss him, taste him, feel Alex’s tongue in his mouth, but he knew Alex would choose someone else if he disobeyed. It was probably why he treated him harsher than his other clients. He didn’t like being denied something he badly wanted.

Do you plan everything or just let the story flow?

I plan very little other than determining my main characters and the place/time of the story. I do a one page summary on the basics and keep a timeline of all major events but that’s about it. The story simply writes itself and the characters have a habit of simply introducing themselves rudely and making me write about them. They can be quite the bullies.

Do your characters ever want to take over the story?

*Chortles* see first comment. Have you met my characters? Oh yes, they just love to tell me what to do and how to write them and often I have to fight them off with a big stick. They have a habit of slyly side lining me with their ideas.

What drew you to the M/M genre in particular?

I’d never even realised there was this world of books out there. Then I wrote a novel with a bisexual serial killer and realised I needed to learn a little more about men loving and making love with other men. Once I read my first two books- The Nothingness of Ben by Brad Boney and Up in Arms by Kindle Alexander, I really got hooked. I found I loved the whole genre and then after reading about 200 books I decided to write my own. I’m so glad I did.

Do you write in other genres besides M/M?

Yes I do. I’m not limiting myself to being labelled as an M/M writer. I’m a writer of romance. Of course sometimes it’s necessary to differentiate depending on who your target market is. My first books, my Starlight trilogy, are M/F but have a strong theme of gay romance as well, as two of the secondary characters are gay and in a relationship together. I intend writing a fourth book in the series which will be primarily M/M using these two characters. I have a couple of novellas out there that are M/F and another five M/F books at my publisher, and a second M/M as well. And I’m writing a third M/M at the moment. So while I’m focusing on the M/M genre at the moment I have plenty to satisfy both camps.

What is your favourite food?

I don’t really have one, although I am fonder of savoury than sweet, so prefer sausage rolls to cake. I love chicken dishes, Italian and Thai food.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I’m both actually! I’m up early in the morning even on the weekends and don’t tend to have a specific time of the day when I feel more awake. I’m up till about 1 am in the morning, still going strong. My favourite time though is the evening, around seven pm, when things are cooler and the dusk is falling.

Where do you dream of travelling to and why?

I want to travel to Boston and New England. I want to see the New England fall, visit the house of Stephen King in Maine, take a ramble down the beautiful coast line and see the blue and white washed homes. I want to eat lobster in the fishing villages along the way and enjoy all types of delicious sea food.

Do distant places feature in your books?

No, I set my books close to home and there’s a reason for this. I love the city of London and for me, it’s so easy to get there. So when I set my books in St James and Chelsea, or Little Venice, one of my ‘perks’ is being able to travel there and take my own photos of the places I mention in my books. The furthest place I’ve written about is Wales, where some of my paranormal romance ‘Double Alchemy’ is set and I’ve been there too. There’s a pub I mention in my Starlight series and also in Stripped Bare, called De Hems Dutch Pub in Soho, and I’ve actually been able to sit in there and have a beer and lunch. It makes me feel part of my stories.

Do you listen to music while writing?

I do. I plug in the ear phones to distract me from the noise of the family and television, constant church bells ringing and the dog. My preferences are pretty varied – Sneaker Pimps, Kasabian, Foo Fighters, Eminen, Oasis, Imagine Dragons are just a few of my all-time favourite groups. I have a particular fondness for Sneaker Pimps though. One of their songs, ‘Small Town Witch’ is used in my second M/M book ‘Waiting for Rain’ - think sexy pole dancing boyfriend…*fans herself*

Could you tell us a bit about your latest release?

My latest release is ‘Stripped Bare’. It tells the story of cheeky escort and hacker, Shane Templar, who meets the rather stubborn and OCD driven solicitor Matthew Langer. They meet when a mutual friend lands in hospital. There is an instant spark but it takes quite a bit of Shane’s efforts to get past the wall that Matthew has built around himself after a tragedy left him hurt and determined to not get hurt again. I think Shane is one of the most loveable characters I’ve ever written. He certainly seems to be popular with the ladies. He has a big heart and a great propensity to love and forgive. Matthew is more controlled and reserved, very protective and a weeny bit possessive but even he can’t resist Shane’s charms.

What have you learned about writing and publishing since you first started?

Never give up. I have to believe that if you put as much passion and love into the craft of writing as I think I do, that someday it will pay off. I don’t necessarily mean tons of money, although of course that’s good. But to be recognised for being a good writer, to be able to entertain people with your stories and want them asking for more- that gives me a sense of satisfaction. My publisher, Boroughs, has been instrumental in teaching me that. They’ve said ‘We believe in you- it’s time you did too.’

And of course, I’ve learnt so much about the craft of writing thanks to my brilliant editor Jill Limber who is my guru. She’s honed my skills and continues to do so with every book I write.

And as for the whole social networking thing- I was a virgin when I started out and I think I’ve now attained the honour of being a social networking ‘prostitute’ lol. The education in this area has been a tremendous learning curve for me.

Is there anything you would do differently?

I suppose if I’d know I was going to write a book back in February 2012 I would have started raising my profile earlier on things like Facebook, Twitter etc. Until I was published in August last year, I had no interest in this at all. Nada. The only thing I had was a Linked In business profile for my day job. So things might have been easier had I had a vested interest beforehand. But other than that- no. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Who, or what, if anything has influenced your writing?

I can’t really say much on this one. I write from my heart, simply imagining my scenes in my head like a film, then translating it to the keyboard. I don’t try and write like anyone I think other than me. Having said that, I have tried to listen to criticisms people have made about some of the M/M genre being wall to wall sex and no story or well defined characters. I definitely prefer story first with strong, believable characters, then the sex as a part of that rather than being the story. I think I have the amazing Josh Lanyon to thank for that. I love his work and he has been an influence in me concentrating more on story. Whether I meet what I’ve set out to do, only time and the reader’s reviews will tell.

Anything you would say to those just starting out in the craft?

Writing should always be the most important part of this craft. So I think it’s important to hone that skill by perhaps taking a creative writing course, learning how to format and write a story in a way an editor will rejoice when they see your MS. It’s a lesson I’ve had to learn, not having done this at all. I was fortunate enough to find someone who would teach me ‘on the job’.

Don’t make excuses about not having time to write. Make the time. And if you want to write, remember that the writing is the easy part. The promotional bit is the one that will kill you  Start building a profile early, getting involved, making friends who can help and guide you.

What are three words that describe you?

Obsessive, driven and creative

What's your favourite book or who is your favourite writer?

As I mentioned, I’m a big fan of Josh Lanyon, Kindle Alexander is a must have and I love Stephen King. My all-time favourite book is ‘The Stand’ by him. I loved this work.

Blurb of your latest release or coming soon book

Actually my next release towards the end of this year will be the third and final book in my Starlight trilogy featuring actor Bennett Saville and his fiancée, Cassie Wallace. It’s titled ‘Starlight and Promises’ at the moment. For those of you who don’t know their story, Cassie is ten years older than Bennett but these two have a chemistry that really supersedes any age boundaries, I promise. And there’s a gay romance element in the series too between Bennett’s two best friends, Alec and Dylan.

This is the gist of the final story.

Cassie Wallace thought that the drama and excitement she’d faced in her first two and a half years with her fiancé, Bennett Saville, was over and life could finally get back to semi normal for them. She was wrong. Again. It seemed that fate still had a lot to throw at them.

Fresh from finishing his filming of his soon- to- be Hollywood Premiere, Bennett throws himself back into the world of his TV series. As he travels around the world promoting his new film, Cassie finds herself having to cope with women once again throwing themselves at him, this time with much more enthusiasm and creativity than before.

They both encounter very unwelcome guests – guests who they both believed were out of their lives.  And once again the couple find themselves embroiled in someone else’s drama - only this time it’s a drama where they are only too pleased to help but one which eventually has tragic consequences.

The constant stress and pressure of whirlwind world trips and constant publicity events takes its toll on Bennett. He finds himself struggling to keep afloat in a world full of constant attention and media hype. Cassie finds herself having to muster all her love and support for him to keep him focused.

But in the midst of all of this and all of the events they’ve experienced in their time together, they decide the one thing they want is to finally tie the proverbial knot. Nothing will keep them from finally making Cassie Bennett’s wife. Their wedding on an idyllic Polynesian island is the last step in what has been a relationship tested by the vagaries of fate but one which is touched with love, humour and the closeness of friends and family.

“Sexy, warm and funny. Dirty. And heart-wrenching.”— Bestselling Author Kindle Alexander

“LOVED it. Matthew stole my heart…but Shane OMG. I want one of him.”— bestselling author of ‘Grand Slam’ JT Cheyanne

“Unashamedly strong and sexy, this story shows just how fast and fierce love between two men can be. And, boy, does Ms. Mac Nicol know just how to turn up the steam!”— John Trevillian, The A-Men trilogy.

He was distracted from his thoughts as he heard a loud noise at the entrance. Matthew watched curiously as a man came flying into the waiting area. The man moved over to the reception desk. The whole waiting room could hear his rambling words, delivered in a voice reminiscent of Richard Armitage, one of Matthew’s favourite actors. It went well with his persona. He was dressed in a very expensive and dapper grey business suit and had an air of panache that, despite his concern, seemed to ooze off him like he was born to the good life. He’d obviously been running. He was slightly out of breath and there was the sheen of sweat on his face. His dark blonde hair fell over his forehead in loose swathes.

“You had a friend of mine brought in earlier,” the man said. “His name is David Debussy. Is he all right? Can I see him?”

Matthew’s next thought was, God he has a sexy voice, followed by a certain sense of envy.

From the way he was carrying on, this man is a good friend of David’s. David is a very lucky man.

He could see the receptionist trying to explain to the man that David was in recovery and only family were able to see him. The more she explained, the more the man got agitated.

“You don’t understand. I could have fucking stopped him. I knew something was wrong when I couldn’t get hold of him. I shouldn’t have let him go back home to his fucking father-”

Matthew’s ears pricked up at that last sentence even as he winced at the foul language coming out of the younger man’s mouth in a public waiting room full of sick people. Matthew wasn’t averse to bad language when used in private or in the bedroom, but frowned on it in public. There was just no need to subject everyone else in earshot to profanity.

If Matthew was being employed to do damage control, he’d better bloody do it before this man made any more rather inflammatory statements.

He glided over to the reception window, seeing the young woman’s look of relief as he tapped the agitated man on the shoulder. The man turned, and Matthew was pierced by the most incredible blue gaze he’d ever seen. The man’s eyes were clear, bright lapis lazuli blue, and at the moment, angry and frustrated. He blinked, seeming taken aback at seeing Matthew standing behind him. A strange expression flitted over his face and then he scowled.

“Yes?” he growled. “I’m having a bloody conversation here; can you wait your turn?” He turned back to the receptionist and Matthew sighed.

“I’m the Debussy family lawyer. I think I might be able to help you, Mister…?” He raised a quizzical eyebrow at the man who’d now turned back and was watching him suspiciously.

“Templar. Shane Templar.” His face tensed. “Lawyer? Are you here to try and clean up after the old bugger then? Shove it all under the fucking carpet?”

Matthew took hold of the man’s arm, smiled at the receptionist and pulled Shane over to the corner of the waiting room. The man’s muscles tensed under his jacket, and Matthew braced for a possible punch.

“Leave me the fuck alone,” Shane hissed, wrenching his arm out of Matthew’s hold. “I don’t remember agreeing that you could touch me.”
