An Interview with Tommy Malone, a character in Cozzi Cove 2
by Joe Cosentino
I have with me today Tommy Malone, a character in Joe Cosentino’s second Cozzi Cove beach novel, Cozzi Cove: Moving Forward. Since the readers can’t see you, how about you tell them what you look like, Tommy.
I’m thirty-one, tall, muscular, with a bald head and lots of tattoos.
A lot of guys like bald guys.
Send them my way. I’m single.
What do you do at Cozzi Cove?
I own Tommy Malone’s, the bar in town. My father owned it before me.
How do you know Cal Cozzi?
We went to school together and remained friends. Don’t tell him, but I’ve had a crush on him for years.
Has Cal ever reciprocated your feelings?
Unfortunately not. Cal was married to Lance for five years. Now he’s living with Michael.
Tell us more about Cal.
He’s on the left side of the cover. After college Cal dabbled as a professional football player then restaurant owner, but neither was a good fit. After his parents died in an automobile accident, Cal found his calling, managing Cozzi Cove.
What is Cozzi Cove?
Cozzi is a New Jersey shore town named after Cal’s great-grandfather who built eight bungalows on a private cove called Cozzi Cove. He also made every stick of furniture in each bungalow by hand—each with a nautical theme. Each bungalow has an amazing view of the bay and lighthouse in the distance. The main beach and boardwalk are only a mile away. It’s a very romantic place.
What’s a cove?
The bungalows on Cozzi Cove are set on a stretch of cove formed when softer rocks were worn away by the sun and salty water faster than the harder rocks surrounding them. This created a gorgeous bay of turquoise water shielded by large rocks in the distance and smaller rocks near the water’s edge. I’ve as they say, spilled a little seed there quite often.
How did Joe Cosentino think you up?
Joe told me I’m a combination of a few guys he knew as an actor.
And how did Joe come up with Cozzi Cove?
Joe’s family vacationed every summer at his aunt and uncle’s bungalow on the New Jersey Shore. He has terrific memories of swimming and making sandcastles at the beach, wading in the bay, playing miniature golf, eating salt water taffy, jumping up and down on trampolines, and eating at his family’s favorite seafood restaurant. All of those places are in the fictitious place Joe calls Cozzi Cove. That’s my home.
You were in book one of the Cozzi Cove series too. How was Cozzi Cove: Bouncing Back, received?
After Cozzi Cove: Bouncing Back released, many readers and reviewers praised its romantic, humorous, dramatic, mysterious style, and interwoven captivating stories. For example, TBR Pile wrote, “I loved this story. It carries you through the full range of emotions, from joy to sadness, from happiness to anger. The characters are beautifully written.” “I look forward to a return visit to the Cove.” So Joe wrote Cozzi Cove: Moving Forward. As with the first book, romance is everywhere on Cozzi Cove in book two, and nothing is what it seems.
Besides you and Cal, who are the other characters in both books?
Cal’s boyfriend Michael is on the right side of the cover. Michael works for me at the bar. Carla Mangione runs Carla’s Seafood Restaurant. She hold a torch for my sister Taylor who drops in from Rome, Paris, Wall Street, or Palm Springs in each book. As a tough as nails top one-percenter, the world revolves around Taylor, which makes her really funny.
Like in book one, book two is made up of interwoven stories about Cal, you, and the guests in the seven bungalows. Who are the guests this time out?
In this novel Rodney Maxwell and Dennis O’Halloran are a Tony Award winning actor and his estranged producer/husband with their two hired bodybuilder studs, Jarek and Zeus. There’s also Michael’s muscular study buddy from college, Carlo from Italy. And there’s a new man of mystery, handsome George Valis, who seems captivated with Cal. I can’t blame him. And computer analyst, Sam, enlists his best friend Chase in a scheme to attract Sam’s hunky, unsuspecting best friend, Raul. Hunter, a female gay romance novel enthusiast, wants to experience gay life off the page. And finally Gil Van Truren tries to end it all—until he sees a vision of his studly first love from college.
What secrets, humor, tragedy, mysteries, and passions lie in the magical place called Cozzi Cove this summer?
You’ll have to read the book to find out.
What is the moral of the story?
Take a chance on love.
Did Joe pattern Cal after himself and Taylor after his sister?
A few traits here and there, but Joe and Cal are very different, though Joe’s sister is opinionated like Taylor.
Cal and Michael go through a rough patch as their relationship continues in this book from book 1, and Cal makes a personal shocking discovery.
That’s Cozzi Cove, just when you think you’ve figured it out, there’s a game changer.
Will there be more Cozzi Cove novels?
Joe is writing the third book now. Good thing. Otherwise I would get bored just taking up space in Joe’s brain.
Do you see Cozzi Cove as a movie or television series?
Joe wants to play Gil.
Who do you see playing you?
The Rock.
There are also a number of love scenes in the books, but none for you.
Joe tells me I have one in the third book. I’m looking forward to it.
Tell us about Joe’s other gay romance releases.
An Infatuation and A Shooting Star (In My Heart bittersweet dreams novellas) published by Dreamspinner Press are loosely based on Joe’s high school and college years respectively. They were so popular as individual e-books, Dreamspinner Press published them together in one paperback. Joe still receives comments from readers that those stories made them laugh, cry, feel romantic, and changed their lives. An Infatuation won Second Place in Divine Magazine’s Readers’ Poll Award for Best Romance of 2015. A Home for the Holidays is Joe’s popular holiday short novella from Dreamspinner Press about an American law student who, as Joe did, takes a trip to the romantic and gorgeous island of Capri, Italy, where he embarks on a relationship with his captivating third cousin. The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland from Dreamspinner Press is Joe’s gay take on my favorite beloved fairytales like Cinderella, Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, Pinocchio, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Snow Queen.
Joe also has two mystery series as well.
Joe’s Nicky and Noah mystery series from Lethe Press are farcical, gay, cozy, who-dun-its. In Drama Queen theatre college professors are dropping like stage curtains. With the inept local detective more interested in getting into Nicky’s pants than solving the murders, it is up to well-endowed Directing professor, Nicky Abbondanza to use his theatre skills (including playing other people) to solve the case, while he directs a murder mystery onstage. Complicating matters is Nicky’s intense crush on Assistant Professor of Acting, gorgeous Noah Oliver, the prime suspect in the murder. Drama Queen (Divine Magazine’s Readers Poll Award for Best Mystery, Best Crime, Best Contemporary, and Best Humorous Novel of 2015) is available as an ebook, paperback, and audiobook performed by Michael Gilboe. It is often on Amazon’s bestseller’s list in its category. In Drama Muscle Nicky and Noah have to use their theatre skills to find out why musclemen are dropping like weights in the Physical Education department while Nicky directs the Student Bodybuilding Competition. In Drama Cruise (releasing soon), Nicky and Noah go on a cruise to Alaska, and discover why college theatre professors are going overboard like lifeboats while Nicky directs a murder mystery dinner theatre show onboard ship.
In the Jana Lane mysteries, with straight leading characters and gay supporting characters, Jana Lane was the biggest child star ever until she was attacked on the studio lot at eighteen years old. In Paper Doll Jana at thirty-eight lives with her family in a mansion in picturesque Hudson Valley, New York. Her flashbacks from the past become murder attempts in her future. Forced to summon up the lost courage she had as a child, Jana ventures back to Hollywood, which helps her uncover a web of secrets about everyone she loves. She also embarks on a romance with the devilishly handsome son of her old producer, Rocco Cavoto. In Porcelain Doll (The Wild Rose Press), Jana makes a comeback film and uncovers who is being murdered on the set and why. Her heart is set aflutter by her incredibly gorgeous co-star, Jason Apollo. In Satin Doll (The Wild Rose Press), Jana and family head to Washington, DC, where Jana plays a US senator in a new film, and becomes embroiled in a murder and corruption at the senate chamber. She also embarks on a romance with Chris Bruno, the muscular detective. In China Doll (releasing late May from The Wild Rose Press), Jana heads to New York City to star in a Broadway play, enchanted by her gorgeous co-star Peter Stevens, and faced with murder on stage and off. Since the novels take place in the 1980’s, Jana’s best friends are gay, and Jana is somewhat of a gay activist, the AIDS epidemic is a large part of the novels.
But I’m not in any of those books.
But you are in Cozzi Cove: Bouncing Back and Cozzi Cove: Moving Forward. Besides reading the Cozzi Cove novels, how can readers connect with you?
Joe loves hearing from readers. They can contact him at: http://www.JoeCosentino.weebly.com. He’ll tell me what they said. He tells me everything. And I in turn tell him things to write in the Cozzi Cove novels. So everybody grab your Speedos, suntan lotion, and shades and head back to Cozzi Cove. Cal’s welcome mat is out for you. I hope to see you at the bar and on the cove!

Interview with Gideon from “Ice Cold” in Joe Cosentino’s
THE NAKED PRINCE AND OTHER TALES FROM FAIRYLAND
published by Dreamspinner Press
I am happy to have with me today, Gaelen from “Ice Cold” in Joe Cosentino’s new novella from Dreamspinner Press, THE NAKED PRINCE AND OTHER TALES FROM FAIRYLAND. Since the readers can’t see you, what do you look like Gideon?
I have auburn hair, violet eyes, a slightly crooked nose, golden freckles, and I’m pretty muscular from working outside our cottage. Since we live in Frost Village, there is lots of shoveling to do. When Kieran and I sit by the fire at night, he tells me I smell like fresh-baked bread.
How old are you?
Eighteen. I was frigid until I met Kieran and we had that first glorious night in front of the fire.
Both your parents and Kieran’s parents died in the great ice storm. How did that make you feel?
Terrified. We didn’t know where to go. Thankfully the old woman who lived nearby took us both in and became our mother.
But things grew frightening again when Kieran accepted a ride on a beautiful sleigh from Prince Isidore.
I’ll say! I had to search through quite a few kingdoms to find him, melt his heart, and bring him back home to me.
And along the way you had quite a few adventures. Tell us about them.
You’ll have to read the book. All I can say is they were full of adventure and romance.
Why haven’t we seen gay fairytale characters in mainstream fairytales or movies?
Joe Cosentino wondered the same thing! As a kid Joe’s older sister read him fairytales in bed every night before sleep. Joe was entranced by the riveting stories of peasants becoming princes and princesses and finding true love. The stunning locations, wonderment, humor and tragedy, and happy endings filled his young mind like peanuts in an elephant’s sack. Joe wanted to be a character in those stories, live in those palaces, dine with the charming princes, and bring happiness to everyone in the kingdoms.
Later as an adult, he wrote musical plays based on fairytales for professional theatre companies: Princess and the Pea, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, Aladdin, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. But here’s where guys like Kieran and me came into the picture. Joe recently reread many of his favorite fairytales, and he was upset to see no openly gay characters in any of them! So he asked himself, ‘Why aren’t there gay people in fairyland? Why can’t a peasant boy fall in love with a handsome prince (or a frozen queen)? Wouldn’t a homeless blond boy seek refuge in a house with three hunky bears? What was Pinocchio’s growing appendage really all about?
Did Jack enjoy his time with the Giant more than Jack ever let on? What’s the good of fairytales without any fairies?’ Miraculously Kieran, Prince Isidore, I and the other characters in The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland were born in Joe’s mind in four humorous, romantic, adventurous, touching, and gay tales. I feel so lucky to star in one of them!
What are the stories about?
“The Naked Prince” is a different take on the Cinderella story. Cinder, a poor and beautiful young man who designs clothing, makeup, and hair for his stepmother and stepsisters, offers his clothing and slippers to a naked stranger in the woods who turns out to be none other than me, Prince Charming. Will Cinder and I confront our manipulative mothers, bring equality to the kingdom, find ourselves, and find one another? I can give you a hint. We are still living happily ever after together in Fairyland.
In “The Golden Rule,” when he is caught with nimble Jack, eighteen-year-old Gideon Golden is thrown out of his home in Fairyland by his homophobic parents. With nowhere else to go, he breaks into the home of three men living on Bear Mountain. Bo and Butch enjoy having a young roommate, but Ben isn’t convinced. Will Gideon and Ben make vinegar or honey?
“Whatever Happened To … ?” takes place on Christmas Eve. A reporter living on Andersen Lane interviews a celebrity for the Queen Newspaper series, “What Ever Happened To … .” Friction ensues between the celebrity with the growing appendage who can’t tell fact from fiction, and the reporter who has a thing for giants. Eventually a romantic spark is lit between the two as Christmas Day arrives, and they realize they have more in common than living in Fairyland. Finally in “Ice Cold,” after losing their families during the great ice storm in the northernmost kingdom of Fairyland, young Gaelen and Kieran pledged their love for one another. When Isidore rides into Frost Village on his elaborate sleigh, Kieran follows the handsome prince to his castle in Arctic Kingdom, where Kieran becomes Isidore’s bewitched slave. This leads Gaelen on an amazing adventure to find his true love and melt his frozen heart. All four stories are terrific, but I like mine and Cinder’s best.
Who is your favorite character in THE NAKED PRINCE AND OTHER TALES FROM FAIRYLAND, besides yourself?
Kieran of course! Not only is he handsome and muscular with thick dark hair and piercing hazel eyes, he is so sweet, caring, warm, and terrific. How lucky I was to save him from Prince Isidore’s cold, calculating clutches!
Will you be starring in more of Joe Cosentino’s books?
This is it for me. However, all of his books are great. If you haven’t yet, also check out AN INFATUATION (Divine Magazine’s Readers’ Poll Award for 2nd Place Best LGBT Romance of 2015), A SHOOTING STAR, and A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS from Dreamspinner Press. If you like mysteries, don’t miss out on DRAMA QUEEN (Divine Magazine’s Readers’ Poll Awards for Best Mystery, Best Crime, Best Humorous, and Best Contemporary Novel of 2015) and DRAMA MUSCLE Nicky and Noah Amazon bestselling mysteries from Lethe Press. And Joe told me he is working on a new series about a gay resort at the New Jersey shore, COZZI COVE: BOUNCING BACK and COZZI COVE: MOVING FORWARD coming soon from Nine Star Press. I wonder, is the New Jersey shore anything like Fairyland? Joe tells me it is quite different, but it does snow there in the winter.
How can your readers contact you and Kieran?
Joe will get any messages to us. He loves to hear from readers. It gives him a break from hearing from characters like me. They can contact him at: http://www.JoeCosentino.weebly.com.

Blog Tour, Character Interview & Giveaway: Cry Wolf by Sophie Avett
There is a boutique hiding out between the fractured, narrow storefronts lining New Gotham’s foggy docks. The shingles are ribbed and black. Washed, peeling paint and displays offering views into wicked leather and lace studded glam. The mannequins are ghoulish beauties stitched together from whatever was left from the last fool to cross one of the sinister witches.
Welcome to Sinister Stitches
“…apparel for a wicked fairy tale.”
A spicy trinity of black magic sisters
breathe star-dusted dreams to life with their gothic apparel boutique. They are
schooled in the old ways of “fabric-bending” by the Needlewitches of old. With
this knowledge, they’ve created an entire line of clothing that all share the
same basic design element: one-size fits all. Each garment will magically
tailor itself to its wearer once worn. Last time the Witches-Who-Stitch, hosted
a literary catwalk, heroines were called from all walks of life and genres to
challenge their seamstress skills. This time, their men have joined the fun—apparently,
they’ve been sent to the boutique. (Whether they like it, or not.)
The witches were NOT expecting men. Their
expertise is usually limited to DEMANDING their husbands NOT wear that in public, and, of course, the fashioning
of fantastic clothing for all of literature’s heroines. (New Gotham’s men usually
get their goods from Rumpel’s Twisted Threads, BUT that’s beyond the point, the
girls put a quill to their interview, changed some bits, and rose to the
occasion.)
To enjoy the hilarity, please check out some
of the questionnaire Roxanne Rhoad’s

“Count Classic”
The fey lingering in the shadows is old, monarch-like
butterfly wings dwarf her face in dark shadows, and her flowing Mortisha gown was
spun from cobwebs and spider tears. All you can see are her eyes. Slanted,
glowing and violet. They’re almost…arachnid. If you’re a woman, you’re just a
little disturbed. If you’re a man, you are most intrigued (If you’re LGBT,
you’re lovin’ it). After all, a Muse never ages. She motions toward the
ghoulish mannequin, and a smile pinches her wrinkled, red mouth:
Capable of dressing yourself? Ha, don’t make me cackle, boy. First of all,
I ain’t sure what you’re doin’ here, shugah. Why on earth did you come here?
There is another store in New Gotham that does nothing but tailor threads for
men. Be sure to grab a Twisted Threads business card from the counter before
you go. Of course, we’ll fashion something for you to wear to the dinner party.
Does no good to turn down good business, and, you, sir vampire…
*uses the tip of an African
blackwood wand to lower her glitter purple granny shades on the bridge of her sleek
nose*
Are good, good business. What?
What’s that face for? *cackles happily*
Goodness, relax. I haven’t the wings for that kind of thing anymore. Besides,
we’ve got some stitchin’ to do, eh?
You’re a classic, so we’ve made sure to keep things sharp and neat. I’ve
had Brenda brandish those killer scissors of hers, and she’s snippet you an elegant
“American” style three-piece sinful black suit.
It is meant for those with wider frames, it will give you flawless lines.
It isn’t tapered down the sides either, but it is tailored tight to the
shoulders. We don’t want your single-singled breasted jacket hanging loosely.
And frankly, we’ve decided to do away with shoulder pads. You don’t need ‘em,
shugah. The gorge between the lapels is a little higher than normal, but we wanted
to draw the proper attention to your neckpiece.
A simple Cary Grant bow tie. Timeless.
Oh, and we’ve also given the suit “Doctor Cuffs.” They were originally
used when designing suits for Victorian doctors, allowing them to roll up their
sleeves without having to take off their jackets while tending patients. We
thought that might come in handy, should things get…well, a little bloody.
We suggest pairing this suit with a Dracula fan-collared cloak, or a
Helsing leather duster. The inner lining should be red, but white might be an
interesting contrast. Likewise, Astrid insists you tie back all that blond hair
into a single tail at the nape of your neck. You know, so the ladies have easy
access to that throat for…bloody kisses.
Now, why don’t you go find yourself a tall bite to drink? (Or two.)

There’s a wild animal on the loose in the black forests surrounding New Gotham...
Not that anyone cares.
Well, Peter doesn't care.
Peter Ume is more interested in finding a way to alleviate the skull-numbing boredom of a city wide shut down. So far his ideas for excitement hover between stealing an unwary idiot’s underwear (soul works, too), setting someone’s eyebrows on fire, or stabbing the next person he meets in the eye with a hot French fry.
It turns out, he’ll be able to save assault and theft for a rainy day. As luck would have it, this naughty kitsune is about to meet the big bad wolf.
And man, is the wolf in for a surprise...
Warning: This story can be read as a standalone, but you will want to smack Sophie for it. (Or so the ravens have said.) So, do keep in mind that there is a part two. (And it will be a freebie. Sophie’s Pixies will carrier pigeon everyone more information soon.)
About the Author:
Sophie Avett is kind of a nerd. Like not even one of the cute, hip ones everyone brags about nowadays. More like the socially awkward hippie who eats way too much bread and dreams about being a dragon from behind towers of mythology books. Um...yeah. Picture old, tattered paperbacks and comic books--mostly Batman and Wonder Woman--dwarfing a tiny desk, with just barely enough room for the troll who writes there and the 70 pound hell-hound that insists on laying it's wet nose on top of her bare foot.
Granted not the most exciting existence, but she tries to make up for it by writing romances populated with her own peculiar ilk of paranormal beasties. Trolls, wyverns, the obscure Nordic brownie--she likes to keep things interesting. And bloody. (And mostly naked--but, we'll keep that bit between us.)
