Supposed Crimes
Book at Goodreads

Trevor Davidson has everything going for him. He’s just moved out on his own with three friends, and he’s landed a job as music director at a large Boston church. He has high hopes for marrying his long-term girlfriend and settling into a comfortable, devout lifestyle.

Andre Cole has spent the past few years throwing himself into a dead-end job at a Cape Cod-based call center. When an opportunity to move back to Boston arises, Andre believes it will be the do-over he needs to put his past behind him.

A chance meeting in a club on New Year’s Eve brings Trevor and Andre together for a brief but steamy encounter. Both assuming that’s the end of it, they are unexpectedly thrown back into each other’s lives when Trevor’s church hires Andre for their website design. While Andre is content at first to move on, Trevor’s conflicted feelings bubble over into his songwriting. Before he can stop it, his ode to Andre becomes an inadvertent Christian radio hit.

Unfortunately for Trevor, he isn’t the only one who knows the song’s hidden meaning. Someone has leaked the story and upended Trevor’s life.

In order to put the pieces back together, he needs to learn to be honest with his girlfriend, with Andre, and especially with himself.

Excerpt:

Whether it was the alcohol or the heat or the press of Trey’s body against his own, Andre wasn’t sure, but the tension felt good and his whole body was alive. The vague thought that he now owed Julian five dollars popped into his head, but he brushed it off so it wouldn’t spoil the moment. The music and the booze coursed through him, and he leaned in closer. He and Trey were pushed together partly by the crowd and partly of their own volition. Inhaling deeply, he took in the scent of Trey’s skin, a heady combination of sweat, soap, and alcohol.

Andre took a chance. He leaned up to speak into Trey’s ear. “It’s customary to kiss someone at midnight.”

Trey’s breath tickled his face. “And how close are we to midnight?”

“Close enough.”

Trey slid his cheek against Andre’s, the rough stubble creating delicious friction just before their mouths joined. It should just have been a brief kiss, something to welcome January first and no more. Except once they’d started, it was like wildfire. Andre sensed a change in Trey, almost an animal hunger. He kissed Andre feverishly, and Andre returned it with equal intensity. They were tangled in each other, panting, their mouths and hips moving together and Trey’s tongue exploring Andre’s. Trey’s palm made slow circles on Andre’s back, and Andre ran his fingers under Trey’s thick blond hair to touch his neck. For the next several minutes, Andre focused only on how good Trey’s body felt against his, the sounds of the band and the crowd fading into the background.

When Trey tried to slip a hand under Andre’s shirt, Andre gasped, and something clunked back into place. “Not here,” he said between breaths.

Trey grunted in agreement and backed off a little, but they kept sneaking in smaller, breathless kisses while Andre debated further. He wasn’t planning on going home with Trey nor asking him to come back to Julian’s place—both Julian and Elisa would kill him. They could do the next best thing and simply find somewhere marginally less public to make out for a while. Andre slid his hand down Trey’s wrist to touch his hand. He tilted his head in question, and to his surprise, Trey nodded.

They escaped through the crowd to the narrow hallway where the bathrooms were located. It wasn’t ideal, but it was good enough. The hallway was nearly empty. They paused along the wall to kiss and grope a bit more, allowing the fire to build between them. When they finally stumbled into the bathroom, Andre almost didn’t care anymore who else was in there with them.

To his relief, there was an unoccupied stall. The moment the door was latched, though, Andre just stood there, undecided. This hadn’t been in the plan, and now that it was a reality, he wasn’t sure anymore. He stared at Trey, his heart hammering in his chest. He thought he should move, but he was rooted to the spot. The spell was broken when Trey yanked on his shirt, causing Andre to stumble into him. The heat of Trey’s chest against his was Andre’s undoing. He looked into Trey’s eyes for a split second before crashing their mouths together.

Review 4 Stars

Actor Adrien Fury's last two films were a disaster at the box office and he hasn't shed their stigma quite yet. His agent, Harrison is determined to get his career back on track, even if it means never mentioning the feelings he's been harbouring about his client for years now.

Adrien is being stalked by someone obsessing over him and the letters keep getting more and more explicit and deranged in their content. Not content with just letting the police handle it, Harrison arranges for bodyguards to watch Adrien's every move. Adrien chafes at this at first, but he knows Harrison has his best interests at heart, he's never steered him wrong in the ten years they've been working together. Harrison even told him not to do the films that had flopped so badly.

The care Harrison is showing for his welfare, just brings Adrien's own feelings to the forefront. He's fallen in love with his agent but has never done anything about it, because he always thought Harrison was straight. A night out on the town, an overzealous fan and a fight in a nightclub, bring everything to a head and they both admit what they'd been keeping to themselves all this time. They are in love and don't want to waste another minute.

But the course of true love never did run smooth and Adrien's stalker doesn't take kindly to Adrien and Harrison's new relationship. It might be over before it's even properly begun.

This is a well-paced, well-plotted novella that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Adrien and Harrison were two different characters, Adrien more outgoing and fun-loving, Harrison a bit more austere and sedate in public, but once in the bedroom it's a different matter. I loved these two facets of Harrison's character and they were both handled well. He's forceful in the bedroom, something of a Dom, although that isn't the main plot. It was just part of his nature, like the colour of his eyes.

Adrien matures a bit over the book, at first he seemed a little childish and ungrateful about the bodyguard situation, but as the stalker gets bolder, he sees the need for them. I loved both Adrien and Harrison and we get to see both of their points of view.

If I had one niggle, it was that the identity of the stalker came out of nowhere. There were a few red herrings along the way to keep you guessing, but I would have preferred for the identity of the stalker to be someone we'd actually met before. Maybe we did meet them earlier in the book, but I certainly didn't remember them at all.

But all in all a sexy, engaging read.

Excerpt:

The whole nightmare had begun a couple of months before, the first letters almost a month apart, then gradually becoming more violent and frequent. The one on Karen’s desk would be the third this week, the previous one less than twenty-four hours earlier.

“You can no longer be left alone for one thing.”

Adrien raised his head to see Harry staring at him even more intensely than normal. He hadn’t thought such a thing was possible.

“But I don’t trust anyone except my mom and sister. My brother’s out. He’d probably take out a billboard ad with directions to where I was and how to get to me. And anyway, I won’t endanger my family.”

“Of course not. After yesterday’s rather gory communication, I placed a call to a bodyguard agency. I’d planned on filling you in at the end of our meeting.”

Adrien tried not to roll his eyes. He didn’t know why they even bothered with meetings. Harry went ahead and did whatever he wanted to do anyway.

“Can I go on record and say that I think the whole bodyguard thing is creepy? Some stranger following me around in my own home, staring at me.”

“Is that less appealing to you than being killed?”

“Listen, Mr. Spock. Could I have a tiny bit of compassion here? You might not be freaking out, but I am.” He folded his hands in his lap, attempting to get his panic under control. Harry was right. Coming unglued wouldn’t help. He just had no idea what would. “Bodyguard, huh? How many and how do we pick a trustworthy agency? I mean, what if the stalker gets to them by paying them off or…something?”

“This isn’t the plot to your last bomb at the box office and regardless, I know of a reputable agency.”

Adrien let out an aggravated sigh. “Of course you do.”

“Would you prefer I was less efficient?” Harry continued as it had no doubt been a rhetorical question anyway. “I’ll confer with them. But my suggestion would be two inside and at least four on the perimeter of your property.”

Another sarcastic retort almost burst out of him, but he knew he was being a brat. It was obvious that Harry had already gone to the trouble of finding a way to protect him, probably doing it in a manner so that he wouldn’t get overly upset.

“Harry?”

“Yes, Adrien?”

“Thank you. I’m just…” He swallowed hard past a lump in his throat.

“I know, Adrien. Trust me. I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”

Kyle's music blog gets a boost from rumours about his affair with a closeted rock star, but his followers have no idea of the reality of his life on the streets of Vegas. Men? He only lets them get close enough to pick their pockets.

Until Bryce-- a wildcat who struck it rich in North Dakota. He wants one last wild weekend without the bodyguards hovering. The hustler with the sexy English accent seems perfect for no-strings sex. But now Bryce can't get Kyle out of his head. Especially since that tempting smile is suddenly on every other magazine cover...

Kyle can steal a heart as easily as a precious sapphire. But can he keep the heart he stole once the truth is out about his past?

If you like contemporary gay romance with real characters in a setting that's a little glitzy and a little gritty, you'll love The Runaway Model. This full-length 75,000 novel is a complete in one volume, and it's absolutely cliffhanger free.

Review 5 Stars:

Kyle Marchane is being stalked by a teacher at his school. Everywhere Kyle goes, the man is there too and he can't seem to avoid him. The teacher, Roman Nigel, hasn't actually done anything incriminating quite yet, almost as if he knows what he can get away with, as if he's done this before. He stands too close, invades Kyle's space and Kyle's instincts are clearly telling him something is not quite right and he should get as far away from the man as possible,

So Kyle starts skipping school, turns to petty thievery, even taking things he doesn't like or will never use. His one light in the darkness of being stalked is his music blogs and the fandom of Stoney Rockland, his idol. When Stoney himself reblogs some of Kyle's posts, rumours abound on the internet that Kyle and Stoney might be an item. If only it was true, it would be Kyle's dream come true.

But the shadow of Roman Nigel hangs over everything and then he starts dating his mother. Kyle thinks it's a ploy in order to get to him and he runs away from home and to Las Vegas. But even in the USA he isn't safe.

Kyle survives on the streets of Las Vegas for a couple of years, not by selling his body as many do, but by stealing from those men who seem to linger on looking at him a little too long, a little too familiar. Kyle is not for sale, but he feels no qualms about stealing to survive.

Bryce has made his millions in the oil industry, very conservative most of the time and he is not exactly out. He spots Kyle in a piano bar and something about him draws him in. It's not the first time Bryce has picked someone up in a bar for a bit of fun, it's almost expected in Las Vegas. What he didn't expect was how strong his feelings were Kyle were. Even running to his rescue when Roman Nigel turns up again.

He knows he shouldn't get involved, but he can't turn his back on Kyle, no matter what. Not even if it seems like Kyle is in a relationship with a rock-star. How can Bryce compare with that?

This was an amazing story. There was angst, drama, true love, the stalker from hell and one heck of an adventure with Kyle and Bryce.

Kyle was such a lonely soul it shone through from the page, but he wasn't one to sit around moping feeling sorry for himself. He was a fighter and he clawed his way up from the streets of Vegas to be a New York cover model and someone in his own right.

At its heart, I think this is a coming of age tale, both of Kyle and Bryce. Bryce comes to terms with his feelings for Kyle and his own orientation. The two of them were so good together, you just knew this was going to be more than a one night stand.

Even though they spent a lot of the book apart, this is a love story. It's not a romance and chocolates love story, it's more deeper, more emotional than that. Both are damaged characters and help each other heal.

This is not a fluffy read, but it is a compelling one and I was captivated from the first page.

Excerpt

Back in Manila, I had been vomiting into the pail my private nurse was holding up for me when my father entered the room, accompanied by Letty. He rushed the nurse out the door while Letty took over pail duty.
“Jamie, you are leaving for LA once we get you out of here. Dr. Martinez has been instructed to clear you to be released from the hospital.” My father was succinct.
“Wha… why?” I tried to speak, but emesis got in the way.
“Margarita. She has finally gone off the deep end. She and your brothers are meeting with the board. I sent in my resignation last night and they only just got the email. I am leaving for Morocco in two hours, and you are flying out as soon as Dr. Martinez gives you something to put a stop to your vomiting. Letty has sent all the details to your alternate email account.”
I tried to sit up, confused about what was going on, but Letty pressed me back onto the bed. I squinted up at her, and then at my father. “What’s going on?"
“Everything is in the email I sent you. Don’t think about anything else right now, just focus on getting well enough to stand without falling on your face. You need to take that flight. It’s going to be a long one and you’ll need your energy to get things moving,” Letty said.
The Way You Look Tonight 3Drender
“Call me once you get to LA. I will send you an email with my new contact numbers.” My father sighed and ran his hand over his face. “I won’t see you for a long time, hijo, but you need to get out as quickly as you can. It’s best you don’t know anything until you get there. Letty will get in touch with you as soon as you’re settled in the hotel. Remember: get to LA and follow the instructions. Once you’re done, call me. That’s all you need to know for now.”
My father leaned down to kiss my head, but wrinkled his nose and shook my hand instead. He turned to leave, then hesitated. Returning to my side, he closed his mouth, as if not daring to breathe in, and then bent to hug me. “I love you, hijo. I wish I could explain more but there’s so little time. I’ll see you on the other side,” he said as he patted my back. Then he turned away, avoiding my eyes, and left the room.

Book Description:

Sometimes the moon shines brighter than the stage.

Connor ‘CJ’ Lamont is at the top of his game playing the bad boy of country music. The problem with his ultimate redneck persona is that… well, he’s not. CJ is a wickedly smart songwriter and musician who suffers from an excess of personality. He lives, not for the spotlight, but for the three months of downtime each year when he can finally be himself.

Sexy werewolf Lee Mills is hired as CJ’s new security to keep him safe and assure that he stays on the medication he’s been on since birth. But when Connor’s parents see sparks fly between their son and his new security guard, they are intent on keeping the wolf at bay. Of course, Mills isn’t used to taking orders, at least not from anyone who isn’t his pack alpha, and he has no intention of following the rules.

In fact, if Mills has his way, he’ll be smashing the spotlight and showing Connor the moon.

***

Excerpt:

Connor did his market shopping—shrimp, rum cake, and root veggies and those neat little brown sugar candy deals—before heading out to the beach house. It sat there like a faded jewel, the turquoise paint beaten down by the sun. It was little, simple, nowhere a famous asshole would live.

Connor loved it.

All he had to do was eat and swim and lounge in the sun. Oh, he had his guitar and in a few days the itch to write would be on him. For now, though, he wanted fruit. Rum.

He dumped the food in the fridge, poured himself a piƱa colada and headed out to his chair to soak up some sunshine.

Connor stopped short when he saw the long, well-muscled man who was stretched out on a tiny air mattress across from his lounger. “Hope you got enough food for two people,” the guy said, sitting up and running a hand through a shock of dark brown hair.

“This is private property, dude. It’s posted.” Connor wasn’t stupid. He knew this was security man, but he wasn’t fucking at work.

“I know. Not a bad setup. I can work with it without losing any of your aesthetic.”

He turned without a word and went back inside, locking the door behind him. He could call the police, but that seemed less than fair. This guy was working, doing his job. He could give it a day or two, see if the guy gave up. He could find another place, maybe another beach.

Christ.

He just wanted a break.

The door opened seconds later. “Nathan gave me a key. Look, I’m not here to make your life shit. In fact, I’ve gone over all the scenarios and decided not to hire a team like they want me to. As far as anyone knows, I’m a buddy of yours down on vacay with you. Hence the beach get-up.”

Connor glanced at Mr. Security again, who looked like something out of the International Male catalog in a pair of soft linen pants and nothing else. His accent, though, that was pure Deep South.

“I didn’t hire you. Just go home, tell my mom I’m fine, and collect your paycheck, man. I won’t tell anyone.”

“Yeah, and if you got shot or messed up or something, I would never work again.” The guy stepped up into his personal space and thrust a hand at him. “Mills.”

He shook instinctively, then pulled away. Nathan wasn’t his buddy anymore. In fact, he hoped Nathan’s retirement sucked. Okay. Connor was going to his bedroom and then he was going to create a plan that didn’t involve having a babysitter.

He was a smart dog. He could do this.

Review: 4 Stars

Running from the authorities back on Earth, Sean has been working as a medic on a mining ship for the past two years. All his documents are forged, and the captain knew it, but he still gave Sean a chance. It's a lonely, hard life, but Sean has made it his own and down in the deep he feels his troubles are finally over. He's in love with Joel, but hasn't mentioned it and tries to keep his feelings and his sexuality hidden, feeling that no one would want to be on the ship with him if they knew. A distress call from another ship soon puts paid to the idea that his troubles are over.

One of Sean's ex-lovers, David, is the only survivor on the other ship. And he wastes no time in blackmailing Sean back into a relationship with him: if Sean doesn't comply, then he will tell Captain Joel Riley all about Sean's sordid past. Feeling he has no option, Sean acquiesces, for he doesn't want the captain to find out about his past. But bedding Sean isn't David's only agenda, and the crew find themselves in danger in more ways than one.

I'm not really a fan of the "gay for you" trope, but I have to admit that in this story it worked well. Joel has always considered himself straight, but he can't deny that there is something about Sean which intrigues him and he is jealous when he catches Sean and David together – if he'd opened his eyes a bit sooner, he might have realised that Sean didn't want to be with David, he was doing it to protect the ship and the other crew.

Sean is so confused and messed-up, I really felt for him and wanted things to work out. He has been through so much, ashamed of things in his past and fears that if anyone finds out they will disown him. Sean wants Joel but he has so many hang-ups about sex due to his past that he doesn't even know how to approach the subject, never mind do anything more physical.

And Joel, Joel understands completely. There is no jumping into bed together in the first five minutes and the book is stronger for it. It's a romance, there's no doubt about that, but romance doesn't have to mean sex in every chapter. Sean needs time, as does Joel for he's never been with a man before, and they both get the time they need to sort out their heads first before they make love.

Great characters, well-written prose, and a fast pace that leaves you breathless. A new author to watch.

Video Trailer

Excerpt

Mists closed around him and hid the moon in a veil of cold grey. He came to a stumbling halt, fear pounding through him in time to the wild beat of his heart. As he caught his breath, he heard the unmistakable sound of flowing water, perhaps a creek winding through the heather. Callum gnawed his lips. Danger lurked on the water’s edge for an unwary man.
On the other hand, men built homes along the waterways and learned to guard against the faery folk. He sighed. Either choice spelled risk, but hunger and loneliness won out and sent him in search of the water’s path through the thick heath.
The gray fog made it hard to see his way and he cursed when he stepped into the creek before he knew he’d come to it. An icy chill raced up his leg and he glanced around, feeling as if he’d been startled from a dream. The mists were gone, leaving the fields bright with moonlight. Faint music caught his ears and he spied several globes of light in the distance. Will-o’-the-wisp? He didn’t know, but the haunting melody tugged at his heart and he walked toward it, careful of his footing.

It was caution that saved him before he made the fatal mistake of stepping into the faery ring that suddenly appeared at his feet. He might have become lost in their dark realm. He stared down, delighted with the brightly dressed wee folk fluttering and dancing in the circle of mushrooms. Laughter floated up to him and he smiled reflexively. Several of the pretty creatures spied him and flittered up to tug at his clothing with tiny hands. These were male, scantily dressed, and one saucy lad winked a bright eye and flew up to nibble at his lips.
Callum laughed and shooed them gently off. “I’m not fool enough to join you,” he told the three hovering near his face.
