Do you plan everything or just let the story flow?
When I sit down to write, particularly with my latest release, I don’t know what’s going to happen until the story takes me there. I think I always have some type of plan for where I want the book to go, but not every detail is mapped out.
With “Blackout” the ending came to me while I was sleeping! I remember lying half-asleep in bed, just about to wake up before my alarm went off, and I was thinking about how on earth it was going to end. I had been struggling with it for days now and suddenly, it just came to me! The perfect ending! I shot up in bed and ran over to my desk and began frantically scribbling down ideas before I forgot them.
When I emerged from the bedroom, my partner was looking at me puzzled as I held up my page of scribblings and told him that I finally figured out the ending!
Hopefully my next piece won’t be such a struggle!
What drew you to the M/M genre in particular?
I have always loved reading and writing M/M erotica. There’s a certain rawness about it that I have always been drawn to. Someone who can write erotica has to be in touch with a certain side of themselves, that I don’t believe we all can dwell. I love being able to put my deepest fantasies on paper, and expose myself in that way. There’s something very freeing about seeing it come to life around you, and knowing that somewhere, someone else is appreciating it as well.
I suppose the other reason I’m so drawn to the M/M genre is that when I started out as a writer, someone told me that the best writers are the ones who write what they know. So I guess you could say that my dirty imagination led me to where I am today!
What is your favourite food?
Easy. Popcorn. Hands down. I love it. I love it so much I could eat it morning, noon and night. I always have a big bowl of it next to me while I’m writing. I couldn’t begin to tell you why. Perhaps it’s because I consider it my comfort food. Somewhere someone’s reading this now and analysing the psychology behind it.
I’m both, actually! I’m a morning person in the sense that I don’t have a problem getting up early and actually enjoy starting my day off right, instead of sleeping in and wasting it away. However, I find that I’m most productive in the evenings. I love writing and doing yoga at night…I think my body just feels more awake and receptive after the sun’s gone down. My best ideas come to me at night.
Do distant places feature in your books?
That’s such an interesting question; I’m Canadian born and bred, but moved to the UK five years ago. Since moving here I have moved to and fallen in love with the beautiful seaside town of Brighton. It’s the most incredible place in the UK, if you ask me. So many incredible bars and restaurants, and right on the sea! What more could you want?
So since moving here, I find myself inspired by the seaside way of life and have based both my novels on Brighton. And now I couldn’t imagine writing about anywhere else!
Could you tell us a bit about your latest release?
“Blackout” is my spiciest book to date, for sure. It started out actually as a short story that was my first published piece as a guest author spot in another author’s book. But I loved the main character too much to just let the idea go. It’s the story of a male stripper named Dice, who gets entangled in a murder investigation and must clear his name before it’s too late.
It was so much fun to write. I absolutely loved Dice, and hope you will too. When writing him, I dug deep and created a character who instead of being based on elements of my own personality, was based entirely on my fantasies. Dice is nothing like me, instead he’s my fantasy. I wanted him to seem like he had everything; looks, friends, the world in the palm of his hand…Then strip it all away from him and turn his life upside down.
The story is essentially a mystery along the lines of “Basic Instinct” and “Body of Evidence”, that will keep you guessing and doubting what you think you know until the very last moment when all is revealed in the book’s final showdown.

Who, or what, if anything has influenced your writing?
I think it’s safe to say that this book was heavily influenced by strippers! I’ve always had a fascination with strippers; there’s something so truthful and honest about exotic dancers. They really aren’t afraid of being themselves. They put themselves out there for the world to gawk at and obsess over. Instead of having the strippers in the book come off as desperados who are only after a quick buck, I wanted to portray their lifestyles in a positive light. I tried exploring the glamourous side of exotic dancing; the music, the power, the sex. I think the dancing scenes in the book are my favourites. They took ages to write-I wanted them to be just right and detailed enough so the reader feels like they’re right there in the club, watching it all go down.
The dancers at the club in the book are so powerful- they exude this sex appeal that is undeniable and overshadows the grittiness of taking off your clothes for money.
What are three words that describe you?
Creative, imaginative, and filthy.
What's your favourite book or who is your favourite writer?
That question is too hard to answer. I love to read. I’m always reading; if I’m without a book, I feel naked. I used to stick to a particular genre/author when I was growing up, but I’ve since allowed my tastes to expand and I’ve started reading all sorts of different types of books by as many different types of authors.
I love chick lit, I love horror books, thrillers, romances and weird and wacky types of books. Anne Rice, Stephen King, GA Hauser, 50 Shades trilogy, Immodesty Blaize. I have so many favourites, it’s hard to name them all!
